So nourishing and healing, these magical seeds rich in iron, magnesium, manganese, copper and calcium offer the nourishing oil which pacifies Vata Dosha through its warm, sweet, penetrating and lubricating actions. These versatile seeds are rich in the oils and minerals which strengthen the bones and muscles and act as a rejuvenating tonic especially in the Vata Season. Sesame oil is naturally antibacterial for common skin pathogens as well as skin fungi, making it a medicine for skin conditions as well as an all round skin beauty tonic. Good to alleviate dry skin, dandruff and other conditions of scalp and hair, sesame oil is used to nourish and strengthen as well as attracting oil soluble toxins which are then washed away or eliminated through the system. It is naturally antiviral and anti-inflammatory. Sesame seeds are high in phytoestrogens such as lignans and sesamin which have antioxidant anti-cancer properties. Sesame oil is used to calm the Vata mind and aids in restful sleep, therefore helpful in easing insomnia. In Ayurveda, sesame seeds are known as sattvic which means clarity, purity and wisdom, and so produces these qualities in the body and mind. Found in the Vata body oil and Vata soap. |
